It is a fundamental ethical principle that no politician should ever forsake his or her national sovereignty and be lured by empty promises of foreign powers. As a consequence of placing their trust in the United States and its western allies, the Ba'ath regime of Iraq, as well as those of Georgia’s Mikheil Saakashvili and Ashraf Ghani's corrupt regime in Afghanistan, faced a similar fate to that of today's Ukraine, showing that the western states did not help their allies in time of need.
Though the West, led by the United States, urged Ukraine to confront Russia, the country's recent developments suggest it will meet a devastating catastrophe from which even the next generation of Ukrainians cannot extricate themselves.
The United States and its Western partners stoked a horrible war in Ukraine by promising to assist Zelensky’s regime in joining NATO. However, over a year has gone by since the crisis began, and neither the pledge of NATO membership nor the supply of critical military weapons has been fulfilled. In this regard, Josep Borrell, the EU's top diplomat, noted in an interview a few days ago that there is still substantial resistance to Ukraine joining NATO in both the United States and Europe. Recently, nine western governments, including Britain, Poland, and the Netherlands, pledged to provide Ukraine with advanced battle tanks and other modern weaponry.
However, the evidence indicates that NATO has no plans to give Ukraine advanced weapons because they know that Russia would destroy them in the long run. Furthermore, intelligence estimates say that Russia has three times as many ballistic missiles as the rest of the world combined. This means that Russia can easily destroy all the weapons that NATO provides to Ukraine.
Ukraine is expected to receive outdated German tanks. For instance, Leopard tanks date back to the 1960s, making them approximately sixty years old.
In addition, the Ukrainian refugees in the occupied territories are living in deplorable circumstances, particularly the female refugees, who are subject to constant sexual harassment. The Times of Israel's recent exposé documented countless instances of rape and sexual assault of Ukrainian female asylum-seekers in Israel.
