Approximately 18,000 cows died in explosion in Texas

WASHINGTON-About 18,000 cows have died in a farm explosion in Texas, in the southern United States. "This is the deadliest farm fire in state history and will likely take some time to investigate and clear," said state Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller. Ansa reports it. The explosion and ensuing fire devastated the Southfork dairy, located near the town of Dimmit in the Texan region of the Panhandle, during the night between Monday and Tuesday. The firefighters and the police rushed to the scene, who "discovered that a person had been trapped inside". The farm worker was rescued and airlifted to hospital. The origin of the explosion and fire has not yet been determined, Miller said, describing the event as "terrible". Castro County Sheriff Sal Rivera told CBS that a manure fume exhaust system may have "overheated." Nearly three million farm animals died in fires in the United States between 2018 and 2021.
