Head of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said Iran’s Islamic Revolution in 1979, was inspired by the path of the revered Prophet Muhammad (s.a.), and countered arrogance and tyranny in support of the oppressed and prompted the world’s scoundrels and criminals to mobilize and try, albeit in vain, to oppose this movement.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a live address to the Iranian nation on Thursday on the occasion of the Mab’ath festival, which marks the appointment of Muhammad ibn Abdullah (s.a.) as the Prophet of God in the seventh century.
The leader stressed that Iran’s Islamic Revolution followed the path of the Prophet.
“It (the revolution) stood against oppression, tyranny and arrogance… in support of the oppressed people of any faith. It stood for the disadvantaged and oppressed of any nation, religion or creed. In all circumstances, this revolution invited all humanity to follow the right path of Islam,” the leader said.
After the revolution that gave birth to Iran’s Islamic system, the world’s scoundrels and criminals joined forces to counter the revolution, much like what happened to Prophet Muhammad when he began his divine mission.
“Of course, we expected this. It was crystal clear from the beginning that powers like America and the then Soviet Union would oppose [Iran],” he added.
“Hindsight, patience and perseverance are the key to thwarting enemy plots”
Elsewhere in his remarks, the revolutionary leader elaborated on ways the nation can thwart U.S. and other enemies’ plots against the Islamic Republic.
Ayatollah Khamenei cited “insight” in addition to “patience and perseverance” as the two important factors needed to confront enemies’ plots, stressing, “If these two elements are present, enemies cannot harm [the country] and achieve success.”
Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated the warning against the enemies’ soft war against Iran, who have targeted the nation’s patience and perseverance and resort to distorting the realities regarding the Islamic Republic in pursuit of their hostile goals.
In the face of this war, Iranian youth have a task to fulfill, the Supreme Leader said, praising them as “officers of soft war.” They should use cyberspace as an opportunity to promote perseverance and insight among people and prevent them from losing hope, Ayatollah Khamenei said
Among other things, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the Saudi regime’s U.S.-backed military war aggression against Yemen.
“It has been six years since America’s Arab partner bombed the oppressed Yemeni people’s homes, hospitals and schools. It has imposed an economic blockade on the people and denied them access to food and medicine. This has been happening for six years with the green light of the U.S.,” the Supreme Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the “talented” Yemeni people managed to develop the necessary defense equipment to retaliate against the Saudi attacks, but as soon as they began to respond, the United States and even the United Nations raised an outcry against Yemen’s campaign of self-defense.
In another instance, the leader referred to the United States as the owner of the world’s largest nuclear arsenal.
“America is the only government that has used nuclear bombs, but raises its voice to say that they are against the development of nuclear weapons. They claim to be against weapons of mass destruction, while they possess the worst and most dangerous weapons of this kind.”
The Supreme Leader also pointed to the state-sponsored murder of Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi, who was brutally killed and dismembered in the Riyadh Consulate in Turkey in 2018 by the agents of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Ayatollah Khamenei criticized the United States for turning a blind eye to the gruesome attack and continuing to support the Saudi regime and still claiming to be supporters of human rights.
“The U.S. created IS and they (the Americans) admitted it themselves … Then they set up a military base under the pretext of the existence of IS …. They provide IS with modern media facilities and money and enable them to destroy and sell Syrian oil. And then they also claim, ‘We are fighting against IS,'” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
