WASHINGTON – US President Joe Biden arrived at Hagerstown airport to congratulate the pilots who shot down the Chinese spy balloon, which according to the defense department was flying over to monitor strategic sites in the country. In the last hour, US Air Force planes had begun flying close to the balloon as it flew over the skies of North Carolina.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had previously confirmed that airspace in a number of areas in the southeast of the country had been closed to allow the Pentagon to operate safely.
The spy balloon was shot down over the Atlantic and the debris is believed to have fallen into the territorial waters of the United States of America. Washington hopes the apparatus can be found for study.
