US President Joe Biden responded to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s call for a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine. According to AAA news agency, Biden, in continuation of Washington’s fomenting war in Ukraine, said on Thursday: “Vladimir Putin’s proposal for a truce is an attempt to get a breather.”
The American president further added: “I am not eager to respond to anything Putin says.” At the same time, Ukraine, reacting to Russia’s unilateral announcement of a temporary truce, stated that this decision was hypocritical. At the same time, US State Department spokesman Ned Price, in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposal for a temporary ceasefire, called it hypocritical and said that Washington did not really believe in the Christmas truce proposed by Russia.
A US State Department spokesman also noted, “As we have stated, the Russians used every opportunity to declare a ceasefire in order to bolster their forces.” Ned Price further added that Putin was trying to deceive the world and that previous Russian ceasefire declarations had led to airstrikes on Mariupol. Russian President Vladimir Putin called for a ceasefire in Ukraine from 12:00 on January 6 to 00:00 on January 7. The Russian president said the decision was made to allow Orthodox believers to attend the festive service. The Kremlin also asked Ukraine to declare a ceasefire.
The President of the United States confirmed that Washington is considering sending a Bradley combat vehicle to Ukraine for use against Russia in the war in Ukraine. Joe Biden told reporters Wednesday night local time that his administration is considering sending a Bradley combat vehicle to Ukraine for use in the war against Russia. According to Bloomberg, these vehicles are part of a larger military support package, and the transfer of these vehicles will help bolster Ukraine’s combat capabilities on the ground, as the Bradley is a light tank.
America recently also supplied Ukraine with HIMARS missile systems. Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that 89 Russian servicemen were killed as a result of the hit of 6 US-made HIMARS MLRS missiles at the place of temporary deployment of one of the units. Acting head of the Donetsk region Denis Pushilin said today that many servicemen who were injured during the shelling of Makiivka were sent to Russia for treatment.
Sending more than $22 billion in military aid and advanced weapons to Ukraine has had no result other than continuing the war and destroying that country’s infrastructure, and according to the UN Refugee Agency on Wednesday, from the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine, up to 3 January 2023, more than 7.91 million Ukrainians found refuge in European countries.
