Borrell's emphasis on the need to strengthen the defense forces of the European Union

The head of the EU foreign policy department said that the defense spending of the European Union is insufficient to protect against external threats.

In a note on the extent of the Ukrainian crisis and what he described as the return of ground wars to Europe's borders, Josep Borrell stressed the need to strengthen the European Union's defense forces and added that the Union's defense spending is insufficient against external threats, AAA reports.
 
He continued: "The European Union is supporting Ukraine in its confrontation with Russia, but we must understand the main security prospects and the new threats we face and decide on the necessary military equipment."
 
The head of the EU foreign policy department said that the EU's defense spending against external threats is not enough, and demanded an increase in military cooperation between the member states of the Union and NATO.
