Elon Musk: We must put Fauci on trial

American billionaire Musk has called for the conviction of Dr. Anthony Fauci, a former White House advisor on Covid-19. On Sunday, Musk tweeted, “My call is to put Fauci on trial.” Elon Musk was referring to the right-wing factions’ campaign to prosecute and convict Fauci for his mistakes in fighting the pandemic coronavirus.

Musk has also openly criticized quarantine measures to control and fight the coronavirus in the past, posting an ironic image of Dr. Fauci telling Joe Biden, “Another quarantine, my king…” The tweet spread quickly and within 11 hours, it had garnered more than 800,000 likes, but it also drew criticism. Peter Hotez, a vaccine expert and writer, asked Musk to delete the tweet. Speaking to Ilon Musk, he wrote: “200,000 Americans have lost their lives for nothing because of the coronavirus, because of such unscientific rhetoric and misinformation.”

Congressional Senator Amy Klobuchar also praised in her message what she called “Dr. Fauci’s method of quietly leading the country through a crisis,” and addressed Musk, “Can you stop your endless efforts to draw attention to this man (Fauci) and leave him alone?” Despite this, U.S. Republican representatives have threatened to prosecute Fauci for his actions when they take control of the U.S. House of Representatives in January. They say they have repeatedly argued with Fauci over coronavirus vaccines, mandatory mask-wearing and other measures.
