First he fought America, now he is crushing ISIS

The title is inspired by Newsweek describing Gen. Qasem Soleimani as nemesis for the US. The General was famous for his anti-US activity in the Region. With the beginning of ISIS rule in large parts of Iraq and Syria, Qasem Soleimani appears as one of those who played a key role in the issue.

He was present in Iraqi Kurdistan during the war between Kurdish forces against ISIS. Qasem Soleimani was with Bashar al-Assad's allied Syrian forces and Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces who fought ISIS in various parts of the country.

The Newsweek in its international edition back in December 2014 covered part of Soleimani and his allies’ activities in crushing ISIS. "Today in Baghdad, most of the forces standing up to fight ISIS are Shiites" adding that "most of the funding needed for these forces comes from Tehran."

The American magazine described Gen. Soleimani as "a military thinktank" and "a high-ranking commander with high strategic management ability."

The magazine also wrote that earlier Qasem Soleimani participated in most of the secret missions. He was not seen in public, but in the war against ISIS he came in front of the cameras and take pictures with Iraqis. These photos had a clear message to the West that Tehran is fully present on the scene.

Former British Foreign Secretary Jack Astra, who has visited Iran several times, believes that the role of General Soleimani is beyond the role of a normal military commander.
