UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called the war in Ukraine a humanitarian nightmare and said the situation there is getting worse. It has been 10 months since the war in Ukraine, and the conflict of interests of the United States and European countries with Russia has meant that there was no prospect of an end to this war. According to the AAA news agency, Guterres told the international conference in Ukraine today and said Ukrainian civilians are paying a heavy price in the winter season, adding that this situation is especially worse for people living on the front lines of the conflict in Ukraine, and are deprived of heating, water and essential services.
Referring to the damage to the electricity transmission system in Ukraine, the UN Secretary-General said 10 million consumers including households, businesses, hospitals and schools in Ukraine are without electricity and access to water and heating has been disrupted for millions of people . Guterres expressed concern over the crisis in Ukraine while failing to react and take serious action regarding the 8-year crisis in Yemen. Yemen is facing the biggest humanitarian disaster of the new century because of Saudi Arabia’s war against that country.
Ukraine may appear Patriot missile defense systems at a later stage of the war. This was stated by Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, speaking to broadcaster “CNN” quoted by Nova News. “A long discussion is ongoing with our partners because it is a very sophisticated and expensive system, so I think the Patriots will be on our battlefield, but in the next phase,” Reznikov said. The minister added that Ukrainian troops are working every day to find better solutions to combat with Iranian-made kamikaze drones launched from Russia.
