In an interview with Radio Sputnik, an American journalist said that Gen. Soleimani, the martyred commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, had a "pivotal role" in the fight against ISIS.
"For most of American history, we have invaded nations and overthrown governments only for our own interests and to increase our sphere of influence, and we did the same for Soleimani" said K. Pritsker.
"He was a General who played a pivotal role in the fight against ISIS in Iraq and in advancing Iran's security interests in the region," he added. In another part of his speech, he pointed out that US imperialism outside its borders is related to poverty inside the country.
The UN special rapporteur on human rights, Agnes Callamard, said that the US drone strike near Baghdad airport in January, which killed Gen. Soleimani and Abu Mehdi al-Mohandis and their accomplices was a violation of international violated law.
She stressed that the US action was illegal, stating: "The United States has not provided sufficient evidence that its interests have been attacked or are being attacked in justifying the targeting of the car carrying Soleimani and his companions near Baghdad airport.
