Nasrallah: Iran has become a regional power

The secretary general of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has paid tribute to Iran’s resistance to the pressure and sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies.

In recent years, Iran has made progress in all fields through resistance and steadfastness and has become a great regional power for which the whole world opens an extra account, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said Tuesday evening in Beirut during his speech commemorating the martyr commanders of the Lebanese resistance.

These experiences in Iran since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 until today are a divine and rational proof for all people in the world to understand that through active participation in national events, unity, perseverance, struggle, selflessness, stability and continuity of action, one can protect one’s religious, national and human values, independence, sovereignty, freedom, dignity, honor and natural resources, the Hezbollah Secretary General added.

Nasrallah also pointed to the Bahraini uprising against the Al-Khalifa regime, saying, “Bahraini people, led by Sheikh Isa Qassim, have repeatedly sacrificed themselves to achieve freedom.”

The Secretary General of Lebanese Hezbollah saluted the Bahraini people and Sheikh Isa Qassim, stating, “The oppressed in Bahrain have peacefully started a revolution to gain their rights. Many have been killed or injured, and currently thousands of people are in Bahraini prisons but they have not yet stopped their peaceful movement.”

Regarding the developments in Lebanon, Nasrallah criticized the attitude of some countries in internationalizing the issues, saying, “Any talk of an international resolution according to Chapter VII of the UN Charter on the government means an invitation to war, and internationalizing the issue contradicts Lebanon’s sovereignty and can be a pretext for a new occupation
