The United States began developing biological weapons during World War II, but the first actual test occurred in 1949. The United States conducts biological research in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia, South Korea, Colombia, Indonesia, and Senegal.
Documents recently leaked suggest that the US is also performed biological laboratory activities in Ukraine.
Kiev allegedly intends to erase any documentation related to the Ukrainian military biological project, which was run by the Pentagon.
According to Russian sources, Washington is highly concerned about the information being disclosed.
Prior to the crisis in Ukraine, Kiev was concerned that Russia could uncover these weapons and consequently destroy them. This was done in breach of the International Chemical Weapons Convention.
“The report shows that the US planned to move the pathogen disease testing on birds, bats, and reptiles to Ukraine in 2022, Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov revealed.
“The US efforts to study the transfer of viruses from Ukraine to Russia through migrating birds are highly critical,” Konashenkov stated. Experiments on bat coronavirus samples were carried out at biological facilities that were set up with US funding, according to Konashenkov. American researchers in Ukraine have reportedly studied how African swine fever and anthrax are transmitted by birds, bats, and reptiles.
Deputy Secretary of State Victor Noland had earlier testified before a Senate committee regarding biological research in Ukraine, despite the State Department’s assertion that it had no facilities in Ukraine. Noland said that Kiev and Washington were trying to keep Russian investigators from going to the country.
At Russia’s request, the UN Security Council held a special session last Friday to consider “US biological weapons in Ukraine.”
