Senior EU official calls Israel 'apartheid state'

Former Prime Minister and current Foreign Minister of Sweden, Carl Bildt,he was the latest senior European official to join the critics of Israeli apartheid in Palestine.Bildt, who is also the co-President of the European Council on Foreign Relations and the World Health Organization's Special Envoy for the ACT-Accelerator, said the Zionist regime was "derailing dangerously" after his participation at the annual conference in Herzliya, held on May 22-23.

The Herzliya Conference is an annual summit held at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, Israel, to discuss issues of security and state policy. This year, the conference was held under the theme “Vision and Strategy in an Age of Uncertainty”.However, Bildt was unimpressed by the conference's discussions regarding Israel's occupation of Palestine. The senior EU official tweeted on Wednesday May 24:

“Very good discussions at the Herzliya conference, but the absence of mention of the issue of (Palestine) shows that (Israel) does not have a policy worthy of the name on one of the most critical issues for its future. I don't think (Israel) can survive in the long run as a complete apartheid state. It's derailing dangerously." Criticism of Israeli apartheid in Palestine is growing in societies that have traditionally been considered pro-Israel.
