Syrian Foreign Minister: We must improve bilateral relations before joining the Arab League

The Syrian foreign minister, in a statement on his country's accession to the Arab League, said: "First, we need to improve bilateral relations with other countries."According to the AAA news agency, Faisal al-Miqdad elaborated: "If the issue of Syria's participation in the Arab League solves any problems, then we are ready to sacrifice our pride for the sake of the return of Arab unity for a while."

He added: "Damascus believes in the Arab dimension of all the problems of the Arab world and has always wanted the unity of all Arab countries and their positions."The Syrian Foreign Minister also remarked, however: "It is impossible to join the Arab League until bilateral relations with other countries improve."After the meeting in Beijing between Iranian and Saudi Foreign Ministers Hossein Amir Abdullahian and Faisal bin Farhan, the process of improving relations between the Arab governments of the region is moving at a faster pace.

In this regard, just a few days after the announcement by Saudi Arabia of its intention to invite Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to a meeting of the League of Arab States after Eid al-Fitr (Feast of the Break). In this regard, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Muqdad traveled to Riyadh to meet with Saudi officials. It should be noted that after the defeat of Salafi-Takfiri terrorism in most of the occupied territory of Syria, one of the main tasks of Bashar al-Assad is the normalization of diplomatic relations with neighboring countries, especially with Arab ones.
