The Hajj: Muslims and cultural emancipation

European powers instituted colonialism across Third World nations and targeted Islamic civilization since the sixteenth century. After the full-fledged subjugation of the Islamic world by the West during the colonial period, the grandeur and magnificence of Islamic civilization began to decline. Colonialism undermined Islamic nations’ sovereignty and independence, transforming Muslim-Western relations from one of the equals to one of the rulers and ruled.

Through colonialism, Western powers attempted to install their dependent regimes in Islamic countries and foment ethnic and religious conflicts.

“Since colonialism entered Islamic countries, colonialists have made every effort to destroy Islam’s political and social elements, undermining justice, freedom, and independence,” Imam Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution has recently stated. Because of the psychological consequences of the west’s economic and political supremacy, Muslims started to look into the reasons for their backwardness and possible remedies.

The psychological repercussions of the west’s economic and political dominance were so destructive that Muslims began to investigate the causes of their backwardness and potential solutions.

Hence, intellectual developments began in the Islamic world to revive the Islamic identity, which was consistent with modern political movements.

The Iranian Islamic Revolution of 1979 was one of these radical intellectual movements that, through ideas like independence and opposition to tyranny and colonialism, helped to emancipate oppressed people all over the world, most notably in West Asia.

This incident had a significant effect on the Muslim awakening and the worldwide resurgence of Islamic ideology.

Since 1979, the world has witnessed the rise of the Islamic Awakening in several Arab nations and the creation of resistance groups committed to fighting colonial forces.

Recently, the Axis of Resistance has been successful in thwarting imperialism’s plot to redraw the borders of the Middle East.

The Zionists’ fear of Occupied Palestine these days, as Hezbollah flexes its muscles in Syria and along Lebanon’s southern and eastern borders, while the Saudi aggressors have been set back by the Houthi movement in Yemen, has demonstrated the force of Islamic resistance as a key component of the West Asian political equations.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said recently in a statement commemorating the annual Hajj ceremony, “Our region and its fast-paced and diverse events constitute a showcase of teachings and lessons. On the one hand, there is the empowerment that comes with fighting and resisting the aggressors, and on the other hand, there is the humiliation that comes with yielding, displaying weakness, and submitting to imperialism’s agendas. ”

As a result, it is necessary to state that during this year’s Hajj season, Iran’s strategic message to the Islamic world was that the fight and resistance against arrogant and colonial oppressors must reach a point of strength in which all Muslims worldwide unite against Western intrusion and atrocities.

Global imperialism is worshipped as an idol because it strays God’s servants through coercion and enticement. Today, numerous individuals worldwide, including a sizable number of Muslims, are forced to worship the western idols incarnated in the corrupt western culture.

Imam Khamenei believes in the renunciation of all forms of modern idolatry and polytheism, including obedience to the American government’s schemes.

In his Hajj address, Iran’s Supreme Leader urges Muslims worldwide to save humanity by resisting imperialism: “Today, our countries, our young scientists, religious scholars, and intellectuals, as well as our political parties and communities, must bear the brunt of the fight against the colonialists.” To make up for that bitter legacy [the colonialism era], Muslims must stand up and oppose Western powers’ interference and depravity. “According to Imam Khamenei, this sacred struggle is to prevent the US and other arrogant forces from interfering in and committing crimes against Islamic countries.

Imam Khamenei has emphasized Islamic countries’ enormous potential in multiple fields, believing that by achieving self-sufficiency and relying on their own resources and capabilities, the Islamic world could build a prosperous and bright future while preventing colonialists from plundering their wealth.
