Meanwhile, immigrant rights groups have likened the Bibby Stockholm to a "floating prison," contending that the confinement experienced by refugees and immigrants, many of whom have fled wars incited by the West and torture, perpetuates a cycle of horrible life experiences.



Back in 2023, the revelation of the spread of legionella, a lethal bacteria, among the ship's residents ignited grave concerns, as human rights groups responded to this alarming development by organizing demonstrations in support of migrants throughout the United Kingdom. Several UK-based human rights organizations have also highlighted the surge of suicidal tendencies among the inhabitants of Bibby Stockholm, believing they have been utterly disregarded by government officials. Furthermore, despite concerns raised by the firemen's union, which deemed the vessel's condition alarming in terms of fire safety, the ship was deemed safe in all respects.
