The US hegemony has suffered enormous setbacks in recent months because of astonishing successes by the Yemeni resistance against the Saudi invasion, Hamas’ victory against the Zionist attack on the Gaza Strip, and Syria’s remarkable electoral achievement. Given their current state of affairs, the Americans are attempting to destabilize Iraq by hatching schemes that would plunge the country into further political collapse.
In other words, the US and its proxies in Iraq are seeking to entice Iraqis into conspiracies that will inevitably lead to an utter security disaster in the war-ravaged Iraq.
To carry out their vicious plans, the American administration urged Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Kazemi to order the arrest of Qassem Musleh, a senior figure in the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and a close friend of Martyr Qassem Soleimani.
Iraqi security forces apprehended Mr. Musleh, the commander of the PMF’s 13th Brigade, in the “Al-Dora” district, south of Baghdad.
Musleh oversees the security of Iraq’s volatile western regions.
One must bear in mind that, since Musleh’s position as commander of operations in the perilous Anbar Province is well-known among political and PMF authorities, any allegations against him should have been referred to the PMF for an internal investigation.
Following the arrest of the high-ranking commander, pro-PMF protesters stormed the Green Zone in Baghdad on Friday night, where Iraqi army personnel was guarding its entrance. Meanwhile, Iraq’s Prime Minister, Al-Kadhimi, has been vehemently criticized by Iraqi public opinion for arresting the PMF’s leader.
Musleh’s arrest, on the other hand, demonstrates America’s relentless political interference in Iraq to curtail the PMF’s immense power.
It is a fact that some Iraqi pro-American corrupt politicians are aiming to disrupt the PMF’s operations by cultivating a precarious situation, with Al-Kazemi playing a pernicious role.
Despite Saudi Arabia’s efforts to destabilize Iraq, Iraq’s current Prime Minister has worked diligently to repair Iraq’s image in the Arab world and develop connections with its neighbors, all while keeping close ties with Riyadh. In contrast to Iran’s constructive role, the Saudis have funded terrorist groups such as ISIS.
Today, the majority of Iraqis blame Saudi Arabia for dragging Iraq into a dark pit of insecurity and turmoil.
