Ukraine, packages with ‘animal eyes’ at embassies

KIEV–Ukrainian embassies and consulates in six European countries have been targeted in recent days.

Diplomatic posts in the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Italy and the Netherlands received bloody parcels containing animal remains as part of a” planned campaign of terror and intimidation,” according to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

The parcels contain “animal eyes.” “We are studying the meaning of the message” of the “bloody parcels,” said Nikolenko, who also quoted a message from Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba: “We have reason to believe that a well-planned terror and intimidation campaign is underway, aimed at Ukrainian embassies and consulates.”

In Italy the package containing animal eyes arrived at the consulate in Naples, while in Rome someone broke into the building where the Kiev ambassador to the Vatican resides, smearing the entrance door, stairs and walls with animal feces.

KIEV – Ukrainian soldiers killed since the start of the Russian special military operation number at least 10,000, possibly as many as 13,000.

Figures unofficially provided by the General Staff and reported by Podolyak, an aide to President Zelensky, to Channel 24, after EU Commission Chairwoman von der Leyen,had spoken of 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed. Podolyak added that the number of civilians killed could be “significant,” and that Russian soldiers killed would be 100,000 and up to 150,000 wounded.

The Kiev army casualty figures provided today by aide Zelensky are the same as those announced in early May by Oleksiy Arestovych, an adviser to the Ukrainian president.
