UNFPA: Women are the biggest victims of Yemen's dysfunctional health system
The Deputy Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Yemen has explained that most of the hospitals and health centers in the country are not working due to the crisis situation that hit the country and thus caused the deaths of pregnant women and infants.

In Yemen, less than 50 percent of hospitals and health centers are functioning; and only one fifth of those health centers provide care for pregnant women and newborns. A real example of many Yemeni hospitals demolished in the war The Deputy Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Yemen, Hicham Nahro added that pregnant women are unable to reach hospitals and health centers that provide services to pregnant women due to frequent migration and living in rural and remote areas. . Hicham Nahro said that families living in rural areas also do not have the ability to go to hospitals or health centers due to lack of money. "Many Yemeni families cannot afford hospital costs and even transport costs to reach urban health centers", he said. The Deputy Representative of UNFPA in Yemen has said that last year the fund was able to reach almost three million women and girls in Yemen, however there is still a great need to provide aid to support the health process of pregnant women in the country. The current crisis in Yemen is the result of a war on all sides that started in 2015 with an invading coalition under the leadership of Saudi Arabia against the country.
