Yemen-Ansarallah: begins exchange of prisoners with the Saudis

SANNA - The exchange of prisoners between Yemen and Saudi Arabia has just begun with the first plane leaving the capital Sana'a for Aden, according to AAA reports, citing the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). This is an important step in diplomatic efforts to end the war launched against Yemen by a Saudi-led military coalition. The process - brokered by the United Nations and the Red Cross - lasts three days and includes more than 800 prisoners. The Yemeni popular resistance movement Ansarullah has agreed to release 181 detainees, including Saudi and Sudanese soldiers who were part of the Riyadh-led war against Yemen, sources said. In exchange, 706 prisoners held by the former Yemeni regime backed by Saudi Arabia will be released as part of the agreement reached last March in Switzerland.
