The Anfal attack in Iraqi Kurdistan is one of the most prominent genocidal attacks in the second half of the twentieth century with an estimated death toll of 182,000.
The declared goal of the attack was to “reassert Iraqi control over the region,” but the real goal of it was to permanently delete the Kurdish “problem” by wiping them out completely for the sake of forcibly Arabizing Iraq and eliminating any non-Arab influence in it, as was the usual policy of Imperialist Baath Party.
