- Thousands of civilians were killed (during the attacks from the spring of 1987 to the fall of 1988). 

- Destruction of approximately 4,500 Kurdish towns and at least thirty-one Assyrian Christian villages in northern Iraq. The displacement of at least one million citizens of the region's population of 3.5 million.
