Due to Arab countries' victory in the first phase of this war - despite the fact that Israel did not lose the areas that it had occupied in 1967 - it still calls it retreat, regression and failure in achieving the goal.

2 important factors played a role in changing the result of war in the Zionist regime's favor: 

- The United States' urgent aid

- Extensive compulsory recruitment in Israel which shifted the Zionist regime's position from defensive into offensive and changed the course of war

It's right that Israel did not lose any land, but this war was a national disaster that nearly ended the regime's existence. It particularly inflicted a heavy death toll of over 2,800 soldiers on the regime. That prompted popular rallies and the establishment of the Agranat war commission which put the responsibility on military and intelligence officials.

Egypt's government led by Anwar Sadat concluded that the United States has the upper hand and it's only Washington that can influence Israel. Therefore, Egypt further moved towards the U.S. before making peace with Israel at Camp David.

Other than the war's final results, we can stress that Israel after this war is different than what it was before the war. Its greatness was lost, its sacred army was devalued and people started talking about the possibility of defeating Israel.
