The problem of arrogance with us is not in the tone of the word. It is a wrong perception to think that if we are lenient with the enemy, he will retreat from his positions. They are our enemy from the basis, and this is because of our beliefs. According to Imam Khomeini, they want us to give up all our Islamic identity.
If they gain dominance over you they will be your enemies, and will extend their hands and their tongues towards you with evil, and they wish that in some way you turn disbelievers. (Mumtahanah, 2)
