Grief over the disbelievers' incredulity

The messenger of God loved all the people and sought the salvage and bliss of all of them. Therefore, he became deeply saddened by the incredulity of the disbelievers and what they did to themselves. This compassion was to the

degree that God told the Prophet:

لعلك باخع نفسك ألا يكونوا مؤمنين.

You are liable to imperil your life [out of distress]

that they will not have faith.

(al-Shu'ara', verse: 3)
