Ferdowsi, the great lranian poet (329-411AH), is the author of the shahnameh, the greatest epic work in the Persian language, which preserves the history and myths of ancient lran. The shahnameh, with over 50,000 couplets, is a symbol of lranian identity and culture.Ferdowsi is buried in Tus, and his tomb is one of lran's important cultural attractions.
