Among the most brutal crimes of Saddam Hussein was the chemical attack on Halabja on March 16, 1988 in the scope of the genocide against the Kurds, which bombed the city with chemical weapons. Speculation indicated that more than 3,200-5,000 people were killed as a direct and indirect result of the bombing, and between 7,000-10,000 were injured.
