In October 2017, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “I will do my best for Israel to reach its 100th birthday. But this is not self-evident. History has shown that no Jewish state has ever survived for more than 80 years and the one that remained in power for around 80 years was the Hasmonean dynasty”.
