Iran is the fifth world country with manufacturing technology

of Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM)

The project to manufacture Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM) kicked off in 2007; and following the success of making the prototype, the manufacturing of 5 microscopes concurrently began with the support of Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council. After 3 years of hard work, on Saturday May 19, 2007, the first home-made STM with the brand name Nama was unveiled. The imaging power of this microscope is from one nanometer to 8 microns, which makes it unique. All the stages of design, construction and localization of the technology of this microscope have been done by the researchers of Medical Science and Technology Research Center of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The Scanning Tunneling Microscopes (STM) is one of the most advanced equipment used in nanotechnology research. Acquiring this manufacturing technology, Iran has now joined five world countries that have the technology to make Scanning Tunneling Microscopes (STM).
