Imam Ali (Peace be upon him):

So, look at the end [of the people of Israel] when there was division among them, and kindness and affections were broken, and the words and hearts became diverse and they were divided into groups, and scattered, and fought with each other, [At that time] God took the cloth of honor out of their bodies and took the abundance of His blessings away from them. And of them, for you, only the instructive story remained for the learners.
