With a huge propaganda campaign in the European countries, Rajavi invited his supporters to Iraq and on Saddam's orders, visas for Rajavi army volunteers were issued quickly. Despite that, the number of volunteers joining MKO's Ashraf camp from abroad did not exceed 1,000. After around a week, 5,000 people got ready for the operation.
