Prayer is an opportunity

Prayer is an opportunity for us, otherwise God does not need these gestures from us and our inner feelings suffice to express our devotion to Him and He sees it. Prayer gives us the opportunity to express that inner feeling of devotion, and to benefit ourselves by this expression and thereby increase our devotion.
