Saddam crimes against Iraqi nation

On July 22, 1979, six days after coming to power, Saddam Hussein convened a meeting of the Revolutionary Leadership Council and ordered it to be broadcast live on television. In this meeting:
- Twenty-two of the party members who were present at the meeting, were executed by their colleagues for their participation in a Syrian-backed plot against the Iraqi government.
- Hundreds of others were executed in the few days that followed that purgatory.
