Like Yasmin, I’d like to study in a newly-built school but our school is old. I tell Yasmin: “The government hasn’t been able to build new schools because of decades of war.”
The teacher shares her memories of her time in this same classroom and school when she was a student. “If thoughts are new, there is nothing wrong with old doors and walls,” she says.
Yasmin says: “By the time our school is rebuilt, our studies will be over.”
I look at the teacher and say: “By then, we will become teachers ourselves!”
We both laughed happily at this wish.
