On March 22nd, 2013, ‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered an official apology for the attack to Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a phone call, during which Netanyahu admitted the occurrence of “some practical mistakes” vowing to pay compensation for the families of the victims in exchange of not to legally prosecute any party that would be responsible for the attack. Both sides agreed on exchanging ambassadors and normalizing ties in a phone call that was urged by US Prsident Barack Obama during his visit to ‘Israel’ at the time.
