The great martyrs of the Islamic Revolution 12

Martyr Seyyed Mohammad-Vali Gharani (1913 – 1979)

- Major General of the Land Forces of the Imperial Army of Iran.

- In 1958, he was expelled from the army for a coup against the Shah.

- During the Islamic Revolution, he became the head of the military faction of the Revolutionary Council.

- After the revolution, he became the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, but resigned following a dispute with the interim government.

- During his short service, he made many efforts to Islamize the army.

Finally, He was assassinated on 23 April 1979 by Forqan Group in his home.
