The requirement for being kind is to be tolerant of unkind or mean behaviours. The prerequisite for seeking justice for the society is to be tolerant of injustices done against yourself. The precondition for serving others is to be tolerant of not being appreciated. It takes tolerance and capacity to become a decent individual.
