Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro called on the Bank of England to release $1 billion of the country's gold reserves, as Caracas is fighting the coronavirus outbreak. 

However, London's high court intervened and ruled that the UK does not recognize Maduro and that it recognizes opposition leader Juan Guaido as Venezuela's leader and therefore the court has ordered freezing of Venezuelan assets.
