Ota Benga's misfortunes were not over. The New York Times wrote on September 10, 1906 that about 40,000 people came daily to the zoo to see him.
Banga returned to the Congo once after a period of show at the zoo had passed, but his heart did not calm down and again asked Samuel Verner to return him to the United States.
He returned to the United States and later moved to England, but in 1916 he committed suicide by shooting a bullet in his heart.
