What is the U.S. War Powers Act? 2

The U.S. War Powers Act was in fact a Congress plan to limit the president's ability to start or expand a war abroad. The resolution requires the president to notify Congress of dispatching armed forces to military action abroad. If the forces are dispatched without Congress authorization, the period of their presence in other countries must be reduced.
