The Failure of Falsehood: The Israeli Disinformation Campaign Against Iran and Hezbollah
Even before the martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, efforts to sow division among the members of the Iran-led Axis of Resistance were conspicuously carried out by Western media aligned with Israel, which aimed to undermine the collective unity of the resistance front psychologically.
In the past few days, the beleaguered Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu diligently engaged in this approach. In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, he claimed that Iran did not provide enough support to Hezbollah during Israel's actions against Lebanon. However, this statement is fraught with contradictions when examined against empirical realities, which easily refute Netanyahu's usual fabrications.
An analysis of the sequence of Israeli state-sponsored terrorism—from the assassination of Sayyed Razi, a high-ranking Iranian official who played a pivotal role in securing Hezbollah's logistical supply line in Damascus, to that of Brigadier General Nilforoushan, alongside Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in southern Beirut—reveals Iran's substantial involvement alongside Hezbollah in its struggle to defend Lebanon.
In addition, the tragic assassination of Sayyed Hashem Safieddine underscored a sinister media strategy that focused on casting baseless espionage accusations against Brigadier General Qa'ani, head of the IRGC Quds Force, insinuating his alleged involvement in the assassination of Hezbollah's late Deputy Secretary General.
As a matter of fact, the Israeli regime's propaganda machine aimed to induce General Qa'ani to appear in the media in order to determine whether he was murdered alongside Marty Safieddine.
In sum, these false accusations against General Qa'ani sought to provoke a prompt response from Tehran, which, in turn, would facilitate Israeli evaluations of the success of the assassination of the martyred Hezbollah official.
Nevertheless, this broad media disinformation campaign targeting nations that wholeheartedly embraced the ideology of resistance has, thus far, resulted in nothing but utter failure.
